This year will be a dance year: Pop Levi, The Klaxons, and yes!!! LCD Soundsystem. So, get out your dancing shoes because Murphy and co. are coming back to finish you off. Completely. I want to be like James Murphy when I grow up: a good DJ, a good producer and one of the most talented people and clear-thinkers in the musical scene. In a few years’ time, when this decade will be talked about, his name will shine in golden letters. Even if he had done just “Losing my edge”, he would have deserved it. But with “Sound of silver”, his latest record, he shows that neither The Klaxons nor the new rave scene nor anything else are the dance music gurus: they were here first. They can still run rings around many. And, if not, simply listen to the fast tempo of “Us v. Them”, “Get Innocuous” and the opening song “Time to get away”. There is even room for criticism and reflection in songs such as “North American Scum”, which speaks about the reactions caused when saying that you’re from the US in these present times. The record ends with a slow but emotional song “New York I love you”, which is a love-hate song towards the city that houses the DFA. On 26 February, the group will be in Barcelona to present their latest record, which has now become one of the must-see gigs this season. wwwlcdsoundsystem.com Text: Alessandra Aledo
